Step into Your Resilience, Your Empowered Self, and Healing
Are you struggling with issues related to trauma, grief, addiction, depression, anxiety, or major life changes? Sometimes we need someone to help us get grounded, reconnect to ourselves and our relationships, and get through challenging times. I’m a licensed therapist in Asheville, NC, and I’m here to support you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. I have been working with adolescents, young, emerging adults , and families since 2004. I use an integrative approach to healing trauma and relationships - blending various modalities including attachment theory, psychodynamics, brainspotting, polyvagal theory (including Safe and Sound Protocol), mindfulness and meditation, and focusing techniques. My specialties are in the treatment of trauma, attachment, addiction, relationship issues, and life transitions.

What is Brainspotting?
A powerful mind/body therapy that has rapid effects.

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing. You can find out more by visiting the official brainspotting website: https://brainspotting.com/about-bsp/what-is-brainspotting/
Safe and Sound Protocol
Begin with Safety
Safe and Sound Protocol is an approximately five hour intervention in which the client listens to filtered music aligned with the frequencies of the human voice, promoting a sense of safety, while simultaneously training the muscles of the middle ear and creating new neural pathways. This therapy results in a more finely tuned nervous system that more accurately cues feelings of safety and danger, resulting in being in a state of calm more often. The brain is flexible and it can change. Becoming more regulated, with less stress and fewer sensitivies, is possible.
This therapy is based upon Dr. Stephen Porges’ groundbreaking polyvagal theory which recognizes the importance of the vagus nerve as an "internal control center" which connects the mind to the body. Safe and Sound Protocol is one way to stimulate the vagus nerve by using the ear as a portal. It has been extensively researched and is evidence-based. Dr. Porges is Distinguished University Scientist at Indiana University where he is the founding director of the Traumatic Stress Research Consortium. He is also Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Professor Emeritus at both the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Maryland.
